Endoscopic Plastic Surgery
A surgery done with an endoscope is called endoscopy. A endoscope is an instrument that helps to view the interiors of the body by making small cuts in the body. A knee surgery, gallbladder elimination and tubal litigation is done with the help of an endoscope. These instruments are now widely used in plastic surgeries. An endoscope is used in cosmetic surgeries and reconstruction techniques.
The endoscope has two major parts. The first one is the small camera. This camera is implanted into the body by making small cuts to insert it. The second part is the monitor to which this camera is connected. This monitor give images of the body’s interior. These images are those that are captured by the camera inside the body. The camera is connected to the monitor with a tube and an intense light.
During a plastic surgery, the surgeon does the surgery with the help of the images captured by the camera. He places the instruments of surgery and performs the required plastic surgery with a view of the interior of the body. This instrument only does the work of getting images.
Endoscopic plastic surgery has a number of advantages. This form of plastic surgery leaves no scars on the body. Other forms of surgery would leave scars and would further surgery to get rid of those scars. The cuts done in endoscopy are very small. This form of surgery does not need big cuts on the body. This eliminates the problems of nerve damage and loss of senses in that part of the body. Risks of inflammation, bleeding and bruising are reduced with endoscopic surgery. The recovery is quick and long stays in the hospital is not required.
An endoscopy is used in different types of plastic surgery. It is used in reconstruction surgery most of the times. For a carpal tunnel release surgery its easy with a endoscope to find the median nerve. This nerve is located in the centre of the wrist. Small cuts are made in the wrist for the surgery. In a sinus surgery the problems of sinus drainage problem can be checked by the surgeon using an endoscope.
In facelift surgery, implants in the chin and cheek can be done easily. Also the hairline surgery can be avoided. For breast augmentation surgery the implants in the breasts can be inserted with the help of an endoscope. This helps in getting a proper estimation of the insertion.
If the surgeon is not experienced enough, there can be dangers in using an endoscope.
